Monty's Dry French White, Vin de Pays des Côtes Catalanes
In 2007, wine writer Monty Waldin rented 2.2 hectares of
vines in the Roussillon from vigneron Eric Laguerre and spent a year nuturing
and working the vines through to cropping and making the wine, all the time
being followed by a TV film crew. The 2007 vintage of the Red sold out within
hours of the Château Monty series finishing.
This white is made
from 100% low yielding Maccabeu, fermented in old oak barrels with some
malolactic fermentation. Greengages and a broad middle palate make this ideal
as an accompaniment to freshwater fish.
