Granges de Mirabel Viognier, Vin de Pays de L'Ardèche, M
Chapoutier
Michel Chapoutier is almost certainly the
winemaker in the world to whom the word 'genius' is attached the most
often.
His range of wines never fails to deliver precise winemaking
perfection - a snapshot of a vineyard's terroir with dense fruit and the
assurance that only natural, biodynamic processes have been employed. Or rather
not employed, for Michel's way is really non-interventionalist. He lets nature
make the wine, in the vineyard. From this raw material he coaxes pure
artistry.
Tasting Note Facing south on volcanic hills at
the foot of the Coiron plateau, the micro-climate is very favourable to the
growth and ripening of Viognier grapes. This creates a good intensity of acacia
and violet aromas and a roundness and freshness on the palate, characteristic
of viognier from volcanic soils.
